PHILOSOPHY

Imagine that one day you leave the house for a bike ride, and you say to your relatives "I'm going to ride around Poland, I'll be back in a few days".

Imagine that at the same time, exactly a dozen or so dozens of people you know or not, do exactly the same. Imagine that you all start and finish your journey in the same place, and hundreds of people are watching you all from a bird's eye, wondering "which one will reach the end first?"

Imagine that you do it with passion for cycling, travel and adventure, passion for victory and overcoming your own boundaries.

Can you imagine it? That means that you can do it ...

Race Through Poland is a long-distance cycling race that leads participants through Poland in a variety of configurations and order. The competitors independently overcome their route around 1200-1500 km, visiting the checkpoints specific for a given race edition.
We would like Race Through Poland to be a foretaste of the season of "great" long-distance bicycle races, from which we have long been inspired to develop our event.

RULES

SELF SUPPORTED

Bicycle riding without external support, which means no to transhipment or accommodation points organized before the start, no help from family and friends on the route, no hiding behind a car, tractor or other rider, etc. (so-called no drafting) , no service vehicle, no subway, public and national transport etc.
What counts is only what you can do yourself in the environment around you, using only commercially available services.

FREE ROUTE

That is total independence in choosing the route. You determine which way you are going to complete the next checkpoints of the race. This rule is unique, and the only thing you get from us are the starting/finishing points and four control points that you must place in the right order

SAFETY RULES

That is, we drive safely and in accordance with the law. There is no consent to breaking the rules, even if they are too radical. Helmets are mandatory all the time, and in the night vests, bands or any other form of glare. The bicycles must undergo technical inspection in terms of visibility and suitability for safe cycling.

Oncoming edition of our race, same like last year will start from main gate of Centennial Hall in Wroclaw.

After making a short round around the Hall, riders will be escorted by Police to make the obligatory route to the south of the city. This is where official racing will start.

For the next kilometers riders will have to follow the obligatory start round to the hearth of local road cycling, Tapadla Pass. We cannot imagine any one going for the ride into south without visiting this amazing place. GPX file will be given in race documents.

From the top of the pass free route choice will start, and riders will follow their own routes to the first control point of the race.

CONTROL POINT

Mactronic

Stóg Izerski

First control point is located at the top of Jizera Mountains, in mountain lodge hotel at Stog Izerski at 1060m above the see level.
Stog is mostly covered by spruce forest and road leading to the top is reaching more than 18% grade in some points. It is a challange for the best.

Similar as with Hitchcock, we are starting from "climbing earthquake", so reaching CP1 will be a great warm out for many.

There is more than one way up to Stog, so riders will be required to follow the right way, just like the GPX file shows in the race documents.

CONTROL POINT

Bike Days

Praděd

Second control point is located at the highest mountain of Hrubý Jeseník mountains, Moravia, Czech Silesia and Upper Silesia and is fifth-highest mountain of Czech Republic, where the average annual temperature is about 1°C.

Climb is about 10km long with average of 6% grade, but to get to the top You will be required to check a designated and obligatory route from one Polish border to the other.

Why we go to Czech Republic? Because we love to and mostly because of last Year winner who inspired us to do so.

CONTROL POINT

Hultaj

Schronisko Trzy Korony

Third control point is located at the south gate to The Pieniny in little town Sromowce Nizne, where Dunajec River Gorge is starting. This place is magically surrounded by mountain ranges from every single side.

The actual climb is not there. Maybe 50 meters of max 5% grade. But we wouldn't allow You to get over here without taking a breathtaking view from the Carna Góra nearby, or without a lovely climb to Knurowska Pass, so here also You will be required to ride by designated segment. GPX file will be available with race document.

CONTROL POINT

Ojców - PTTK Zosia

Fourth control point is located in Ojcow National Park, the smallest of all 23 national parks in Poland. But as the saying goes that "small is beautiful", this part of Poland will welcome You with some extraordinary landscapes of the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland.

The climb to the control point has only 700 meters, but it can take a tired rider off saddle for a while with 15% grade in place.

We want riders to take the most of this land, this is why they will be required to enter the Park from the north and follow the obligatory round. GPX file will be available with race documents.

Second edition RTP finish line will be located exactly where we started, at main gate to Centennial Hall.

Riders will be pleased to take an obligatory round following the most exiting parts of the famous road bike marathon Hornet Sting. The obligatory round will lead riders through beautiful Trzebnickie Hills witch are the mostly chosen place to train for local road riders. GPX file will follow south to the main gate of Centennial Hall.
